Niall Ó Tuathail was raised in Dangan Heights in Galway City. He went to Scoil Fhursa and Saint Mary’s College.
After school in Galway, he went to Trinity College, Dublin and graduated with a Foundation Scholarship and the Gold Medal, Trinity’s highest undergraduate honours. After some travelling, including a 6000km bicycle trip from France to Kyrgyzstan, he joined McKinsey & Company in London and Lisbon where worked with Nobel Peace Prize winners, national healthcare systems and on major road and energy infrastructure projects around the world. He started a software design business Mobile Clipboard in 2014 which is based in Galway and serves clients in Dublin, London and Lisbon.
He became frustrated with Irish politics during the bank guarantee and bailout, and moved back to Ireland to have an impact on the 2011 election. He ran the canvassing campaign for Stephen Donnelly (who was elected to the Dáil as an Independent for Wicklow) and for David Hall’s Dublin West by-election campaign in 2014.
Niall lives in Galway City with his Portuguese partner and young son.
